Calisthenics Are Your Best Friend
Also known as bodyweight exercises, calisthenics will be the main type of exercise you will do if you want to work out at home without equipment. They don’t require any equipment and are really good for strengthening your body. As the name already says these exercises will use the weight of your body.

The goal of these exercises is to either burn fat by doing high-intensity movements or to strengthen and define your muscles.
Some of the best calisthenics exercises are:
- Pushups
- Pullups
- Chinups
- Burpees
- Squats
- Crunches
- Planks
Don’t Neglect Everyday Items
If you miss the gym equipment, be creative, your house probably has all the stuff you need to replace the things you find at your gym. You can use water bottles as dumbells, or your sofa to do some elevated pushups, or even a chair to do some tricep dips, your creativity is the limit.
Try Workout Apps
If you search on the app store of your smartphone you will find many apps filled with different types of workouts for you to choose from that usually don’t require any equipment. It’s really helpful if you don’t have time to create a workout plan yourself or don’t know how.

If you don’t have a smartphone or prefer the video format, Youtube is also full of instructors creating workouts you can do at home.
Buy Cheap Equipment
If you want and have the possibility you can buy some cheap equipment to help you with your workouts.
Resistance Bands
A very good product we can recommend is resistance bands, they are affordable and you can take them anywhere. Also, you can do a full-body workout with them because there are a lot of different exercises with resistance bands for each muscle group.
Pull-Up Bar
Another really good product to buy is a pull-up bar. Pullups are a very good exercise that strengthens your upper body and we really recommend you do it. The pull-up bar is really important because it’s the only way to do pullups at home and there isn’t an equipment-free exercise that can replace the pullups.
Always Warm Up
It’s really important to always warm up before any kind of workout to avoid injuries and ensure your body is ready to start exercising. When you warm up your blood vessels dilate, making sure your muscles receive an adequate amount of oxygen. You will see that you will feel much more ready to start exercising with a high intensity after a warm-up. [1]
Don’t Forget To Drink Water
It’s very important to always hydrate yourself when exercising. Dehydration can lead to decreased workout performance and make you feel bad.

We recommend you to follow these guidelines by the American Council on Exercise on the amount of water you should drink:
- Drink 17 to 20 ounces of water two hours before the start of exercise.
- Drink 7 to 10 ounces of fluid every 10 to 20 minutes during exercise.
- Drink 16 to 24 ounces of fluid for every pound of body weight lost after exercise.
What To Do Next
It’s very important to eat before any kind of exercise. Don’t forget that.
